The Eye Ball 6:00 p.m. – 12:00 a.m.
|
The Eye Ball is the premier fundraising event for the LEIF.
This James Bond-style black tie affair features live entertainment, a gourmet meal and the presentation of the “Light of Sight” award. This year will have a special focus on one family’s decision to give the gift of sight – and the gift of life, made possible through organ and corneal donation, after the tragic death of their 20-year-old son. Special guest Olympic Silver Medalist Zach Railey will be in attendance. Railey represented the U.S. in Beijing in Finn class sailing competition, and won second place in his first trip to the Olympic Games. Cost: $250 per patron ticket (includes invitation to Patron Pre-party at Hoffman Porges Gallery in Ybor City and $100 contribution to the Circles of Pride Campaign benefiting LEIF); or $150 per individual ticket. Where: The Ballroom at the Lions Eye Institute for Transplant and Research, 1410 North 21st Street, Tampa, Florida 33605 Established in 2005, the LEIF is the philanthropic arm of the 35-year-old, Lions Eye Institute for Transplant & Research (LEITR), which has brought the gift of sight to more than 30,000 men, women and children through corneal transplant. The primary goal of the Foundation is to assure that any person who needs sight-saving/sight-restoring surgery will have access to that care, regardless of the individual’s ability to pay. LEIF also funds special programs that enrich the quality of life for blind and visually impaired people.
