Fresh Air Family will put a galactic twist on the traditional Halloween carnival by taking it into outer space. Come to Bottletree Cafe on Sunday, October the 12th at 3pm and you will be amazed. Alien Pumpkins and scarecrows from "Vulcan" will greet you at the door. Inside you will be able to participate in space activities among the stars. Bid on the silent auction: Prizes will include box seat tickets for 4 for at a Birmingham Barons game, 4 tickets to the exhibition hall at the McWane Center, and a 3 month membership to Curves (select locations), among several other great prizes!

We’ll have Roger Reid, producer & writer of APT’s “Discovering Alabama” series, on hand discussing his newest young adult mystery novel, Space. His last novel, Longleaf, was a huge success and, Space continues the saga of teenage sleuth Jason Caldwell in a tale that incorporates factual information about astronomy and America’s space program into its intriguing tale of suspicion and pursuit.

Thanks to Laurie Kramer at Art Works Alabama we have an exciting craft program for the kids to participate in. The artist at Art Works will help the kids with a personalized masterpiece worthy of framing. The usual cost of these projects is $25 per piece, but thanks to Laurie and Art Works, 2 crafts will only cost $15 a child. These “craft tickets” can be purchased at the same time as your event ticket. In addition to the great art projects Daniel Noll will be creating a sculpture with Alabama Mud during the event. He will also be passing out free samples of the mud to the kids!

The meal will be some of Bottletree Cafe's award winning vegetarian chili, a choice of beef hotdogs, tofudogs, or turkey pesto wraps and more. You can even enjoy a movie during your deep space adventure, including one of the best of the worst movies ever made. Dress up in your finest alien or Halloween costume and win a prize. Kids can bring a decorated pumpkin and enter the "Best Alien Pumpkin Contest".

At $5 a person this will be an event you will not want to miss.
