Fresh Air Family Casual Canyon Hike 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

From 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM we will join Dr. Kelly Gregg for this easy to moderate hike along DeSoto State Park trails to learn more about the Natural History of the area. We will hike to Indian Falls Trail and down to Little River.
Meet: Meet at Mountain High Outfitters, 2800 Cahaba Village Plaza, next to Whole Foods, on Highway 280 at 10:00 AM to sign in; please be prompt. Bring a sack lunch, a drink and bug spray. Be sure to wear appropriate footwear and clothing. We will enjoy a picnic lunch at De Soto State Park before the hike. Directions: We will turn left onto Hwy 280E and travel to I-459N then to I-59 North. Then we will follow I-59 North to exit 218 off ramp, turn right onto AL35 South. Go to the first red light and veer left. Go to the next light and turn left on Gault Ave. Go through downtown Fort Payne about 1 mile and turn right on AL 35 next to Union Park. Travel up the mountain, turn left at a flashing caution light on top of Lookout Mountain. Go 5 miles on Co. Rd. 89 and enter DeSoto State Park. Lodging is indicated on signs turning right from DeSoto Parkway. Continue past the signs around the curvy road approximately ¼ mile to the Country Store/Campground Registration Office/Nature Center Building/Restrooms on the left.
