More time on your hands
Join a Virtual Walk
It's Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, and you can help fight this disease, from right where you are. CureSearch is looking for 12,500 people to be part of their virtual walk – the same number of kids that are diagnosed with cancer each year. Kids with cancer need our help. CureSearch is a bit more than half way to achieving this worthwhile goal. On behalf of all these brave children and their families, and for future generations of kids who will reap the rewards of finding a cure for childhood cancer, let's make this happen! The facts are these:
With information like that, you've got to do something. And so, CureSearch went into action. Last month, CureSearch National Childhood Cancer Foundation announced a significant new national on-line fundraising and awareness campaign: the "Virtual Walk for 12,500." The "Virtual Walk for 12,500" brings together online many thousands of individuals within the pediatric cancer community who are committed to supporting the life-saving research of the Children's Oncology Group (COG), the world's premier pediatric cancer research collaborative treating more than 90 percent of children with cancer. The Virtual Walk follows the model of CureSearch's signature "MileStones Walk" events. Site visitors are able to help CureSearch achieve its goal of honoring every child diagnosed with cancer by contributing a minimum of $10 in support of each of the 12,500 children in the United States who are diagnosed with cancer each year. Now through the end of September, visitors can go to the special CureSearch Virtual Walk site, and register individually, form their own virtual team, or join an already existing team. In this way, the Virtual Walk offers people of all ages and backgrounds the ability to be full participants in support of COG research. And, during all of September, participants can follow the progress of the Virtual Walk on the CureSearch blog site. Beyond the Virtual Walk, CureSearch is hosting and sponsoring numerous other programs and events in cities and towns across America that will raise awareness and funds in support of the life-saving research of the Children's Oncology Group.
