A Bag to Remember
Stash those canvas bags somewhere you won't forget. The hardest part of getting into the habit of taking your own bags to the grocery store is remembering to bring them. One way to get out of this rut is to make sure you have a few sets. This way, you can leave some in your car to make sure that you always have them ready to go when you do some unplanned shopping. Nowadays, if you happen to forget your bags, many places have some for sale (that are usually pretty cheap). And, when checking out, don't forget to ask if your store offers a bag credit.
CommentsDonna commented, on April 8, 2008 at 8:42 p.m.: I've been re-using paper bags for about 5 years or so. I find that double paper bags will last about 8-12 months before needing to be recycled. I also keep several canvas bags in the car for the same purpose. Michelle commented, on May 15, 2008 at 8 a.m.:

The same goes for our own leftover containers - keep a set in the car so that if you go to eat out, you can save on the use of plastic/styrofoam!
