Know what you can recycle on the curb before you throw it into the bin.

According to the EPA approximately 75 percent of things you'd find in a garbage can are recyclable, but that doesn't necessarily mean it's picked up by your curbside recycling program. Take some time today to find out what is and is not recyclable in your curbside pickup and let the kids in on the exploration. For items not picked up roadside, have the kids help to decorate some bins especially for the glass, plastic bags, or steel cans. Make it a daily activity to have the kids sort these items. Make sure to rinse and not throw before you know.
