Two Hands
Have your children use two hands when brushing their teeth, but only one is needed on the brush. We're sure you've heard to leave the water off when brushing your teeth, but how can we teach our kids this lesson? Use the “Two-Handed Tap-Toothbrush Technique.” One hand’s for brushing; one hand’s for the faucet. Teach them to turn the water on quickly with a small stream to wet and turn it off again. After brushing, have them turn the water back on, rinse and tap. If yours is too small to reach the faucet, make a conscious effort to tell them when you're turning the water on and off (they'll remember when they're tall enough).
