As you clean up from Christmas, take the chance to talk about gratitude and use put-away time as a chance to encourage your children to donate their unused toys - since they now have all these new ones.

Christmas is a memory and it's time to wind down from all the hype. The new items may still be scattered throughout the house. Maybe that doll has not made it to its new home (the toy chest) or the blocks haven't stayed stacked and seem to be in 10 different places in the house. Take time today and have the kids help you take those new family members to their new homes. If the toy chest is over-crowded, use put-away time to encourage donation. See if they are willing to let some "friends" go to a new family.
