Please Clean Up that Mess!
Cleaning up messes can be friendly for our kids and the Earth! When kids make a mess, hand them a dishrag instead of a paper towel and lovingly ask them to clean it up. By using a dishrag, your family will save money and time (since cloths are thicker and more absorbent). It's estimated that 3,000 tons of paper towels are sent to landfills every single day. But, if you must use paper towels, consider rinsing and reusing. Most paper towels are made to be durable and can be rinsed and dried on the counter with ease. And, you can use the clean-up time to have a quick discussion about responsibility.

Kathy, I love that idea! Thank you for your feedback. I also took some receiving blankets and cut them into 4 pieces and use them for smaller messes, boogies (and I think all parents know about those at this time of year), and face-cleaning. They are so soft when her nose has been wiped and wiped! Post a commentYou must be a registered user to post comments. |

I've repurposed all my kids' no-longer-needed burp cloths into dishrags. They're super-absorbent and my kids think it's more fun to help clean up when they have a kid-sized, "pretty" rag of their own to use. It saves tons of paper towels and I can rinse and reuse the burp cloth towels until they're dirty enough to go in with the next load of laundry.
